As a pool owner, you’ll know that keeping the water sanitised with chlorine is crucial. Chlorine ensures the pool stays clean and free of bacteria.

If you have an outdoor pool, stabilised chlorine tablets are the ideal cleaning solution. When used alongside algaecide and flocculant, these tablets ensure the water remains crystal clear for your next dip.

What are stabilised chlorine tablets?

Stabilised chlorine tablets are a slow-dissolving dose of chlorine that’s released into the water over time. It’s a low-maintenance way of keeping on top of your cleaning routine, reducing the work you have to put into cleaning your pool.

These tablets are slightly acidic. They contain trichloroisocyanuric acid, which is the active ingredient that kills bacteria. This acidic quality means you have to check the pH and alkaline levels to make sure everything’s balanced. If you’re just starting out and need a hand with getting the levels right, our team is on hand to help.

While unstabilised tablets are available, stabilised chlorine tablets are recommended for outside pools. This is because sunlight can break down chlorine and the chemicals used in the stabilised tablets ensures the chlorine remains effective no matter how much sun exposure your pool gets.

If you have a larger in-ground pool, 200g stabilised chlorine tablets are recommended. Stock up with a 5kg tub.

How to use our 5kg stabilised chlorine tablets

Your pool cleaning routine is made easy when you choose our 200g stabilised chlorine tablets in 5kg tubs. These are straightforward to use and sure to keep harmful bacteria and germs at bay.

There are two ways to add stabilised chlorine tablets into your pool. Take your pick from using the pool skimmer or floating dispenser.

A skimmer is the fastest way to add chlorine to the pool, with a tablet taking around five to seven days to dissolve. You’ll need one tablet per 10,000 gallons of water here. If you opt for a floating dispenser, it’ll take around 10 to 14 days to dissolve and you’ll need one tablet per 7,000 gallons of water. Be sure to clean your skimmer or dispenser thoroughly before every use.

Never place stabilised chlorine tablets directly into the water. This can damage the pool, bleaching it or leaving stains.

Typically, it’s best to aim for a chlorine level of 1-3ppm in your water to get the levels right.
