Chemical: Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate

Function: A granular form of chlorine sanitiser for pools, spas, and hot tubs. This can be used as your main chemical for pool sanitising, as well as for creating shock treatments for small above ground pools.

Description: 1kg stabilised chlorine granules give you an essential chemical required for small above ground pool upkeep. Treating the waters in your pool regularly helps to kill viruses and bacteria in order to keep it sanitary for use.

You can also use our stabilised chlorine granules 1kg in order to create a shock dose of chlorine for your pool if it’s on the smaller side. For above ground liner pool owners, you can use stabilised chlorine granules to shock dose your pool once a fortnight, or once a week during the warmer periods over the summer months.

Stabilised pool granules aren’t recommended for shock doses on larger pools due to the risk of ‘chlorine lock’ – causing chlorine to become ineffective due to it being used as your main sanitiser and shock treatment chemical.

Dosing Instructions (Pool):

  • To increase the free chlorine by 1 part per million add one scoop (100 grams) per 50 cubic metres (10,000 gallons).
  • For a shock dose, add 750 grams per 10,000 gallons. Please note this might need to be doubled or even trebled in the presence of algae.
  • Dissolve granules in warm water in a plastic bucket to create a pre-mixed solution. This can be spread throughout your pool or poured into it using either a skimming basket or strainer.
  • If using a feeder or dispenser, ensure that the granules used are the same chemical (Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate). If another material has been used, wash the feeder out thoroughly before adding granules.
  • Maintain a chlorine level of 1 to 3 ppm and a pH level of 7.2-7.4 in your pool. It’s recommended that you test your pool water regularly to ensure chlorine saturation and the alkalinity of the pool are within safe limits.

Dosing Instructions (Spa):

  • To increase the free chlorine by 2.5 parts per million add 5 grams (a teaspoon). Note: On average you should need approx. 1 teaspoon per person using the spa.
  • Maintain a chlorine level of 2 to 4 ppm and a pH level of 7.0-7.6 in your spa. Testing the waters of your spa every so often ensures that the level of chlorine isn’t excessive and that the alkalinity isn’t outside of usual parameters.

It’s recommended that you review the further safety information within the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for stabilised chlorine granules before use if you have any concerns about using this chemical.
